【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesameansfordeterminingthespecificopticaldensityofthesmokegeneratedbyspecimensofmaterialsandassembliesunderthespecifiedexposureconditions.Valuesdeterminedbythistestarespecifictothespecimenorassemblyintheformandthicknesstestedandarenottobeconsideredinherentfundamentalpropertiesofthematerialtested.Thus,itislikelythatcloselyrepeatableorreproducibleexperimentalresultsarenottobeexpectedfromtestsofagivenmaterialwhenspecimenthickness,density,orothervariablesareinvolved.Thephotometricscaleusedtomeasuresmokebythistestmethodissimilartotheopticaldensityscaleforhumanvision.However,physiologicalaspectsassociatedwithvisionarenotmeasuredbythistestmethod.Correlationwithmeasurementsbyothertestmethodshasnotbeenestablished.4Atthepresenttimenobasisisprovidedforpredictingthedensityofsmokegeneratedbythematerialsuponexposuretoheatandflameunderotherfireconditions.Thetestmethodisofacomplexnatureandthedataobtainedaresensitivetovariationswhichinothertestmethodsmightbeconsideredtobeinsignificant(seeSection6).Aprecisionstatementbasedontheresultsofaroundrobintestbyapriordraftversionofthistestmethodisgivenin14.1Inthisprocedure,thespecimensaresubjectedtooneormorespecificsetsoflaboratorytestconditions.Ifdifferenttestconditionsaresubstitutedortheend-useconditionsarechanged,itisnotalwayspossiblebyorfromthistestmethodtopredictchangesinthefire-test-responsecharacteristicsmeasured.Therefore,theresultsarevalidonlyforthefiretestexposureconditionsdescribedinthisprocedure.1.1Thisfire-test-responsestandardcoversdeterminationofthespecificopticaldensityofsmokegeneratedbysolidmaterialsandassembliesmountedintheverticalpositioninthicknessesuptoandincluding1in.(25.4mm).1.2Measurementismadeoftheattenuationofalightbeambysmoke(suspendedsolidorliquidparticles)accumulatingwithinaclosedchamberduetononflamingpyrolyticdecompositionandflamingcombustion.1.3Resultsareexpressedintermsofspecificopticaldensitywhichisderivedfromageometricalfactorandthemeasuredopticaldensity,ameasurementcharacteristicoftheconcentrationofsmoke.1.4Thistestmethodisintendedforuseinresearchanddevelopmentandnotasabasisforratingsforregulatorypurposes.Thisstandardmeasuresanddescribestheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,productsorassembliesunderactualfireconditions.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Valuesstatedinparenthesesareforinformationonly.
